16-17 January 2024
The two-day kick-off meeting for the Free LitterAT project took place on January 16th and 17th, 2024, marking the beginning of an ambitious initiative aimed at achieving litter-free coastal communities. The project, funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area program, brings together a consortium of 14 partners from France, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain.
With a primary focus on addressing top litter items such as Abandoned, Lost, or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) and microplastics, the project aims to develop, test, and implement innovative approaches for preventing, locating, and reducing marine litter.
Over the coming months and years, the Free LitterAT project will work towards advancing solutions that contribute to cleaner, healthier coastal environments, benefiting both marine life and coastal populations.
