We are pleased to announce the Lagrangian Models for Ocean Transport Workshop, which will take place June 15–17, 2026, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

This three-day workshop organized in the frame of Free LitterAT project (Interreg Atlantic Area Programme) focuses on the use of Lagrangian transport models for marine debris applications, with MOHID-Lagrangian presented as a practical and methodological paradigm. Participants will gain hands-on experience in defining marine debris sources, analyzing particle trajectories, and identifying accumulation patterns in ocean transport processes.

The program includes:

  • Hands-on training sessions using real-world case studies
  • The opportunity for participants to present their research as a short oral contribution
  • Lectures and discussions led by internationally recognized experts in Lagrangian modeling

Invited speakers include:
Ramiro Neves (Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa), Michael Denes (Utrecht University), Isabel Jalón Rojas (Bordeaux University), Ismael Hernández (IMEDEA), and Mohsen Shabani (University of Santiago de Compostela).

The workshop is limited to 25 participants to ensure an interactive learning environment.

Abstract submission deadline: March 31, 2026
Programme release: April 20, 2026
